HURRICANE IRENE TO POUND REGION WITH HEAVY RAINS AND STRONG WINDS
TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO SAFEGUARD YOUR PROPERTY AND PERSONAL POSESSIONS. NOT TO MENTION YOUR LIFE.

  • Be prepared with bottled water, batteries, battery-operated radios, flashlights, candles, and in general to have a “To-Go Bag”.
  • High winds are anticipated. Bring inside all outdoor furniture, play sets, grills and any object that could become airborne that will break windows and do damage to cars and homes.
  • Remove all vehicles from the streets and, if possible, park cars in garages.
  • Local flooding may occur, therefore, prepare basements if they are prone to flooding and check sump pumps.
  • DO NOT drive through roads with standing water.
  • Elderly, homebound, and other special needs people (requiring oxygen, commercial power) should seek and have alternate power in cases where power outages may occur.
  • Residents should call 911 if street flooding, trees and power lines down and other life threatening emergencies. For other non-emergency events use 610-437-5252.
  • If community events (i.e. sports, street fairs, etc.) and meetings are to take place this weekend, if the weather forecast warrants, we encourage cancellation of those events.
