Commissioners Honor Salisbury Volunteers
On Thursday, April 18, 2013, the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners held a special ceremony and dinner at the Township Municipal Building honoring nine residents whose volunteer efforts and dedicated services have benefited the citizens of the Salisbury Township community.  Below is a listing of the individuals that were recognized and excerpts from the nomination forms that were submitted:

Ralph Uff. 
Mr. Uff has been a dedicated fire fighter for the Western Salisbury Fire Department for 29 years. He is a life member and retired deputy fire chief.

Dallas & Nancy Heckman. 
Mr. and Mrs. Heckman have been active participants in the SYA for over 15 years. Dallas helped in the building of the softball and baseball fields at Laubach Park and has served as a coach for basketball, softball and baseball in addition to serving as the Director for In-House and Traveling Softball and Director for In-House Baseball. Nancy has served as a team mother, concession stand worker and Director of the In-House Softball league, in addition to her duties as a Cub Scout Den Mother and member of the Harry S. Truman PTA.

Margaret Kernan.  
Ms. Kernan has been a 5-year volunteer with “Meals on Wheels” and a 45-year Salisbury resident always willing to help.

Clint Ballek, Jr. 
Mr. Ballek has served 20 years as a volunteer fire fighter for the Eastern Salisbury Fire Ambulance and Rescue Company and currently serves as its Fire Chief.  Mr. Ballek makes himself available for incidents at all hours and provides critical leadership when dealing with often dangerous situations.

Roy “Flip” Williams.
Mr.  Williams has spent 20 years volunteering in youth sports, and has been with the Salisbury Youth Association since 2003. He has served as a head coach for baseball, football, basketball and as the Director of Basketball for the SYA. Currently he serves as statistician for the football program.

Rebecca Glenister.
Ms. Glenister has worked for 8 years with the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education, including serving as the association’s president for the last 5 years. She also serves as part of the school superintendent’s parent committee and is involved with the Boy Scouts.

John Blackledge, Jr.
Mr. Blackledge has served as a worker and baseball coach for the Hamilton Park Athletic Association for many years.

Danielle Rothrock.
Ms. Rothrock has been a member of the Harry S. Truman PTO for the past 8 years, led a Salisbury Township Girl Scout troop and has been the SYA Concession Stand Director for spring and fall sports for the past 6 years.
